Hope for Children
(Republic of Moldova)
As a close local partner of the Courage Foundation, Hope for Children supports disadvantaged children and youth in Moldova.
Moldova struggles with a high poverty rate (especially among the rural population), slow economic development and corruption. One consequence is that many children and youth are left to fend for themselves while their parents are working abroad or struggle with drug or alcohol addiction at home. Due to a lack of social and family support, many of these children are not able to start attending school or have to leave school prematurely, leaving them with very modest prospects for the future.
The goal of Hope for Children is to provide for the physical and emotional needs of these children, restore and support families and prevent marginalization and institutional exclusion, and to pave the way to a better future.

Escalada
(Romania)
Escalada supports adolescents in orphanages in Iași, Romania.
A good education and a successful career start are not a given for many young people in Romania. Orphaned or abandoned children growing up in orphanages are hit particularly hard. Orphanages can often only provide basic necessities such as shelter, food and access to education. But they often lack non-essential medical care (e.g. dentist, vision aids) as well as personal support.
Escalada supports the children and adolescents primarily by arranging and paying for medical examinations, counseling and supporting the young people in their transition from orphanage life to independence, and providing tutoring in examination subjects and homework assistance.
Depending on the needs and budgetary capacities, Escalada has also been able to finance scholarships for the continuation of education, offer music lessons or workshops to promote social skills, and organize summer camps.
