Changing lives. Improving opportunities. Cultivating courage.
Through education and the teaching of life skills, the COURAGE Foundation aims to empower people to take their future into their own hands and bring about change on their own. We support projects that seek to holistically address root causes of challenges and do not simply provide material help. To accomplish this goal, our projects work in close cooperation with Christian churches, the local population and their representative bodies. We support people regardless of their origin or faith.
COURAGE offers underprivileged and disadvantaged people hope for a better future.
Our Founder
Matthias Daub was a senior partner at the management consultancy McKinsey before founding his own company scty. By developing platforms for collaboration between citizens, administration and companies, scty is driving the digitalization of the public sector.
In his private life, Matthias is involved in a church congregation in Berlin and most enjoys spending his free time in sports activities with his family.
In the 1990s, I worked for a little over a year in a Romanian children’s home. I was deeply moved by the affliction of the children. Not only the external circumstances like lack of access to health care or adequate clothing have remained in my memory for a long time, but I was especially affected by the lack of emotional support and the great neglect of education. This experience was repeated when I visited and worked with similar projects in other countries. I could not leave this as it was and have therefore been committed to helping disadvantaged children – especially in Romania and the Republic of Moldova – for over 20 years. My Christian faith drives me to “take care of the widows and orphans”. Through better access to education and personal support, the children have much better chances in life and can gain new courage. The COURAGE foundation aims to offer this opportunity to many more people in difficult situations.

Since April 2022, the COURAGE foundation has been a co-owner of scty by societec GmbH. Together with private donations, the income from the company’s profits forms a healthy basis for the COURAGE foundation’s budget.
